Canon Announces New EOS 1D Mark IV Pro SLR!
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. - Canon USA announced, today, that the new Canon EOS-1D Mark IV Digital SLR camera will be shipping to authorized dealers in late December of 2009. In a press release, Canon stated, “The EOS-1D Mark IV is a high-speed multimedia performance monster with a 16-megapixel Canon CMOS sensor, Dual DIGIC 4 Imaging Processors, and 14-bit A/D data conversion, all at 10 frames-per-second (fps), with the widest ISO range Canon has produced to date. This new camera also features 1080p Full High-Definition video capture at selectable frame rates packaged in Canon’s most rugged and durable professional camera body.”
Above and beyond SLRs of the past, Canon says this is one of the most rugged and durable body designs it has ever manufactured. Completely weather-resistant, the EOS 1d Mark IV features 76 gaskets and seals protecting all buttons and seams on the body, which surrounds a rigid magnesium-alloy chassis.
Even with all that, Canon views the crowning achievement of the 1D Mark IV Digital SLR as being its new autofocus system that starts with 45 AF points including 39 high-precision cross-type focusing points capable of tracking fast moving athletes or wildlife accurately at speeds up to 10 frames per second. With greater subject detection capability than ever before plus a newly redesigned AI Servo II AF predictive focusing algorithm, the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV camera sets new standards for autofocus performance among professional digital SLRs.
The EOS 1D Mark IV looks to be another strong step forward in the evolution of the professional EOS lineup. At a $4,999 estimated street retail price, Canon will be asking you to open your wallets to obtain one, however. Also, with inventory being at all-time lows, one should not expect us to get a shipment of 50 or anything like that. This one could be hard to get hold of until well into 2010. Correction On HF200 and HFS100 Instant Rebate
A correction needs to be made regarding the announcement of the brand new $200 instant rebate from Canon on the HF200 and HFS100 digital camcorders. When Canon communicated this information over the phone to BPAV there were no documents outlining all of the advertising policies and details as there normally are with all Canon sponsored promotions and this led to a situation where some critical details of the program were overlooked or miscommunicated as we hastily posted the rebate to be available to our customers. The most important detail of all is how the HF200 and HFS100 have to be priced in order for the sale to qualify for the Canon instant rebate.
We can only offer the $200.00 instant rebate on orders where the camcorders are advertised for sale at a certain minimum price. For the HF200 that price is $749.00 and for the HFS100 that price is $1099.00. This makes the lowest possible final price , after the rebate, $549.00 for the HF200 and $899.00 for the HFS100. Any pricing below those minimum levels is a violation of the rebate terms, making the instant rebate invalid. Unfortunately, we did not clearly understand this important detail at the time the rebate was announced and was added to our website promotions. Leaving the error uncorrected would have led to the required cancellation of any order placed for the camcorders because of the invalid rebate terms.
Lastly, we thought we were not able to include free shipping on the camcorders when we first published the promotion on the website but, in fact, we are able to offer free shipping per the terms of the rebate. We have since added free shipping onto the promotion and that will be included when you check out.
We apologize for any confusion that was caused with the changing of the pricing and promotional details after the rebate was announced. It boils down to two companies hastily trying to get a nice promotion published on the camcorders but, in doing so, taking steps outside of the normal pattern of procedure and documentation which led to some confusion on our part. All of the details have now been corrected and we’re moving forward. If you have any questions, please give us a call or email us and we’ll be happy to help.
